The story starts w a young girl giving birth to a baby girl that she hidden her pregnancy from everyone and didn't know what to do because of her situation being the father which is Noah Fisher is dead from another situation so she does the only thing she knows best to do puts the babe in an amish quilt and put it in a laundry basket and leaves it on the porch of the amish bishop's house. Kate gets a call in the middle of the night and jumps out of bed and goes over to the bishop's house to find a baby there and she tries to figure it out from the information from the community she is able to solve the case.
